Pack a Suitcase FREEBIE

Who's ready to pack a suitcase?! It's the end of the school year and you're so close! Finish strong with a strategy that is engaging, multi-sensory and relevant to summer vacation! It's the perfect review of a range of goals that we commonly address in special education, such as impulse control, following directions, listening, daily living skills, literacy, language, and more!

Get ready to enjoy a sneak peek at one of ten amazing strategies from the "Looky Hear" Music Therapy Strategy Toolbox developed collaboratively by a music therapist (Shae Keeley, MT-BC), an orientation and mobility specialist and a teacher of the visually impaired!

For this strategy you need a suitcase, clothes, toiletries (or anything you would pack in a suitcase), your clinical skills and this catchy song. "Going on a trip I'm going to pack my suitcase. Going on a trip today! Going on a trip i'm going to pack my suitcase. I need my..." Check out my demo!

Aren't you loving this strategy already? Shae even volunteered to share her coordinating visual aid for FREE!! Click here to download the visual aid! Adapt the materials you use for the age of your students. For children use child-sized clothes and toys. For a secondary classroom, use your own suitcase and adult clothes and toiletries. I found my paper-mache suitcase at hobby lobby and the other contents at either the dollar store or thrift store! Pair 'Going on a Trip' with a transportation visual and turn-taking or cooperative play with the ocean drum and you have a well-rounded unit to send your students off to a successful summer!

The fun doesn't end here though! The "Looky Hear" Music Therapy Strategy Toolbox includes a book full of descriptions, sample objectives, materials, lyrics and a CD with songs and full-color VISUAL AID PRINTABLES for ten equally amazing collaborative strategies - Show Me How, Left Right Left, Shapes Are All Around, Weather, What Do You Use?, Going on a Bug Hunt, Zookeeper, Pickin' Up Berries and Going on a Picnic! Also included are related data collection sheets, smartboard files, a chart of the target skill areas, and information on how they disseminated these materials to PPCD classrooms in their district! To order the book and CDs, email this order form to Shae Keeley, MT-BC at shaemtbc@gmail.com. Mention that you heard about it from Music Therapy Joy and receive $10 off! This is a must-add to your music therapy budget!

EnJOY!
